It was a very exciting few days for our five finalists as they became the official owners of five Irish Angus cross calves each at the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore in September 2017. All finalists were present on the Irish Angus Producer Group stand for the three days of the championships to talk to the visiting public about their plans for the calves. They were presented with ownership of the calves by RTE’s Miriam O’Callaghan on the second day of the championships in a private ceremony attended by the students’ families and industry representatives.
