The Certified Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition has officially been launched for 2019. Do you want to follow in the footsteps of the champions of 2018, Conor Lehane and Mark Shorten from St. Brogan’s College, Bandon, Co. Cork?  Entries are now been taken from groups of 2-5 Transition Year students with an interest in a career in the agri-food industry who have what it takes to impress the judges.  Following entry and shortlisting by video and interview, five finalist teams will be selected from an exhibition of semi-finalists in Croke Park in March 2019 and awarded five Irish Angus cross calves each at the National Ploughing Championships 2019.  The teams will rear their calves through to finishing and fully benefit from the net profit at sale of the calves to ABP or Kepak.  Check out a short video of the Croke Park 2018 event at https://youtu.be/5xRY5TLGQno

An additional 2,000euro cash prize will be awarded to one overall winning team.  All finalists will receive skills development, inductions and insights into the meat production supply chain from farm to retail presentation over the course of a 2 year programme.  Send your entry videos to Irish Angus Producer Group, Longfield, Virginia, Co. Cavan by Fri 9 November 2018.  Full details of the competition and how to enter can be found here.  Detailed terms and conditions of the competition can be found here.
