The Certified Irish Angus Beef School Competition has officially been launched for 2020.

Do you have an interest in agriculture or beef production?  Do you want to follow in the footsteps of the 2019 Champions, Laurel Hill Secondary School, Limerick?  Would you like to rear your own Angus calves through to slaughter and benefit?  If you answer Yes to any of these questions, then this could be the competition for you.

Entries are now being taken from groups of 2-5 Transition Year students with an interest in a career in the agri-food industry who have what it takes to impress the judges.  Following entry and shortlisting by video and interview, five finalist teams will be selected from an exhibition of semi-finalists in Croke Park in March 2020 and awarded five Irish Angus cross calves each at the National Ploughing Championships 2020.  The teams will rear their calves through to finishing and fully benefit from the net profit at sale of the calves to ABP or Kepak.  Check out a short video of the Croke Park 2019 event here.

An additional 2,000euro cash prize will be awarded to one overall winning team.  All finalists will receive skills and development, inductions and insights into the meat production supply chain from farm to retail presentation over the course of a 2 year programme.  Full details of the competition and how to enter can be found here. Detailed terms and conditions of the competition can be found here.  Send your Entry Form and entry videos to Irish Angus Producer Group, Longfield, Virginia, Co. Cavan by Fri 8 November 2019.
